Troubleshooting iPhone Hotspots
If you find that you cannot connect to your hotspot, please try the following.
Starting on the phone side of things, ensure the following steps have been taken:
- Open Settings>General>Reset>then tap Reset Network Settings.
- The phone will restart. Go back into hotspot settings and ensure that the hotspot is turned on.
- You may need to modify the hotspot password on your phone. Do this once the phone has come back up.
On your computer:
- Open your network settings, the dot with three bars indicating signal near the system clock (see picture below)
- Find the iPhone or hotspot network and right click it. Select forget. Your network list may refresh, if it does wait for iPhone to reappear.
- When it reappears, select it then select Connect. Enter the password listed on your iPhone for the hotspot. You do not need to make the PC discoverable so say no to that. (It's important to note that if it still does not connect there are a few things to try. First repeat step 2 here, to clear any saved info on your pc. On your iPhone, delete the password and create a new one. Enter this new password on your PC.)
